A Square Staycation
Did your travel plans change this summer?
As we adjust to a new normal, there’s still time to plan a trip to the inn where our main priorities are always your health and happiness. Stay in the heart of Palmer Square and spend time exploring the best of downtown Princeton’s al fresco eateries, boutiques and walkable sights. You never know what you might rediscover just outside our doors.
Here are some tips on how to spend your mini Princeton staycation!
As you lay in your big, comfy bed, you’re probably thinking about a great cup of coffee and breakfast on the go. Have no fear, curbside pickup is available at many restaurants and cafes. As you finishing up your makeup and put your shoes on, your kids’ breakfast sandwich is being prepared at Princeton Soup & Sandwich and your caffeine fix is waiting for you at Rojo’s! This is truly so convenient to ensure you can get moving and enjoy the gorgeous weather during your stay in no time.
Walk to Princeton University’s expansive campus. Explore its many paths and courtyards. Take in the history and the majesty just across Nassau Street. By the time lunch rolls around, make your way back to town. Find a picnic bench in the shade to enjoy snacks and appetizers from Olsson’s Fine Foods. You’ll LOVE the personal cheese and charcuterie boxes. Need an afternoon treat? Stop by Small World, Kilwin’s, the bent spoon or Halo Pub. Looking to enjoy a nice beverage instead? Visit our own Yankee Doodle Tap Room’s shaded terrace on Hulfish St. for a refreshing cocktail.
The gorgeous sunny weather allows you to stroll to settle in on the spacious Green with blankets and toys you can pick up from jaZams during your walk. Enjoy the live music playing from one of our patio spaces as you make your way to the shops for some retail therapy. Whether you’re looking to shop summer sales or snag new fall arrivals, you will certainly find stunning pieces at Nic+Zoe, Lace Silhouettes, J.McLaughlin, and Highbar Boutique! Feel safe and confident during the entire process.
As it gets later in the evening, it’s time to decide where you’d like to dine outside. Look up restaurant hours and seating availability on the Palmer Square App. Reserve a table at one of the many patios around the Square. Mediterra’s al fresco atmosphere is just as enjoyable as the handmade pizza and paella! Or perhaps you want to wander to over to Witherspoon St.? Look to grab a table at Agricola, Kristine’s, Witherspoon Grill or Alchemist & Barrister just to name a few!
A trip into Princeton can be such a wonderful change of scenery, where you can be together as a family, outside in a safe environment. With so much to do in our own backyard, pack up the car, park with ease, mask up and hit the town! There’s just something about walking the streets of Princeton again…
